What is affordable housing? |
| |
AHM, Inc. has utilized financing options through various local, State, and Federal government agencies that have enabled us to keep our rents affordable to a wide range of lower wealth households and families. While the options available at each community vary, our commitment to fostering and maintaining quality, safe, and affordable housing is constant. |
| |
 |
I have filled out the Prequalification, and it said I'm qualified. Does this mean I'm approved? |
| |
While it appears you may have prequalified, it does not necessarily mean you are approved. Approval is subject to Rental Application, proof of residency, income verification, and conditions set by individual community managers.
|
| |
 |
How long does the application process take? |
| |
The application process depends greatly on your ability to provide staff with the necessary documentation. |
| |
 |
I have blemishes on my credit history, will I qualify for an AHM apartment? |
| |
AHM, Inc. is a non-profit whose mission is to provide quality, safe, and affordable housing for the households and families who need it the most. Each community requires a credit check that is designed to demonstrate your ability to pay future rent payments. Because of this we focus our review of credit to credit history dealing with former landlords or other rental related items only. Our requirements are relaxed but very consistently enforced. Please contact one of our Community Site Management Team's Offices for more information. |
| |
 |
Does AHM run a criminal background check? |
| |
Yes. AHM completes a local, State, and National criminal background search of each potential applicant. Our policy for criminal history is designed to be flexible to future residents while directly attempting to shield our communities and residents from potential safety concerns. Please contact one of the Community Site Management Team's Offices for more information. |
| |
 |
Is there a fee to apply for an AHM apartment? |
| |
Yes and No. Select communities do require a very reasonable application fee. Currently only 2 out of our 14 communities require an application fee. The remaining 12 communities are free to apply for an apartment. Please check with the site management staff to determine if your desired community requires an application fee. |
| |
 |
Does AHM provide 24 hour emergency maintenance? |
| |
Yes. AHM provides comprehensive 24 hour emergency maintenance at each and every one of its communities. An emergency will include, but may not be limited to, air conditioning repairs when the temperature is 85 degrees or higher, heat repairs when the temperature is 50 degrees or below, any water leak, a clogged toilet in a one bathroom unit, a refrigerator that is not properly cooling, or any other concerned deemed an emergency at the particular time. |
| |
 |
Is AHM's maintenance reliable? |
| |
Yes. AHM has a professional and experienced staff of maintenance technicians. Our strict policy is to address all requests for maintenance within 72 hours. Emergency or critical requests will be completed within 24 hours, unless very unforeseen circumstances prevent. Again, we have a 40 year history of providing quality maintenance and service. |
| |
 |
