Coalition and others to provide this valuable resource of affordable
rental housing in Guilford County", explained David Levy, Executive
Director of AHM. Of the $5.5 million to fund Windhill Court,
$3,766,000 comes from state and federal tax credits and $1.7 million
from federal housing funds allocated through the City of Greensboro
and Greensboro Housing Authority.
Windhill Court development will include construction of 64 units:
16 one-bedroom and 48 two-bedroom, two bath apartments. It will
include a community building with a computer technology center, and
a fitness center. The outdoor recreation area includes a gazebo,
grills and a playground.
Upon completion of Windhill Court, planned for late fall/early
winter 2006, the new units will be available to families whose
incomes vary from very low up to 60% of the Guilford County median
income, adjusted based on household size. Rents will be $322 and
$445 for one-bedroom units and $322, $495 and $550 for two-bedroom
units. Additionally, through a new program between the N.C.
Department of Health and Human Services and the North Carolina
Housing Finance Agency seven units at Windhill Court will be
targeted to persons with disabilities or are homeless.
AHM, formally known as Greater Greensboro Housing Foundation, is
